Client: North Kingdom/adidas
Role: Social Interaction Design, Production Management
North Kingdom partnered with adidas to create the campaign for the launch of the new German federation 2010 Football World Cup kit. The Teamgeist site/game created by North Kingdom told the history of the stars on the German jersey. It was a hugely sucessful campaign that managed to get 500 000 visits in it’s first three weeks and won several awards including FWA Site of the month for December 2009.
Our mission was to create something related that could help spread the word about the Teamgeist campaign. We helped develop a Facebook application where you via your webcam could put your own face on a video of one of the German players and become part of the team.
You can create and share your own player at apps.facebook.com/teamgeist/
Concept development and prototyping
How can we make something related to the Teamgeist site that also can function as a standalone Facebook application? We looked at the technical limitations of the Facebook app environment, the Actionscript API, and what could be accomplished in a relatively short time but still be fun and engaging.
Social Interaction Design (SxD)
After the basic concept was set we did a lot of sketching to explain how the application would work and most important how the social and sharing functions needed to work – which content will be shared where and when? How does images and microcopy affect the “shareability”?
Production
The team consisted of seven people from four different companies, and that's how we often work inside The Lodge – collaboration and bringing different pieces of knowledge to the mix.
